Pros and Cons on Vista

Microsoft's new baby, Windows Vista, has a huge competitor--one that's stable, relatively secure, installed in hundreds of millions of homes, and (ahem) works flawlessly with every piece of hardware and software currently available. Its name? Windows XP.

So why even consider buying into Vista, let alone one of the five flavors of Microsoft's next operating system? Microsoft's answers: ease of use, a frosty looking interface (*cough* OS X *cough*), a huge focus on gaming (about damn time!)--oh, and it's the only place you can find DirectX 10.

With Vista now available, we're going to find out if Microsoft can deliver on some of those promises. Just bear in mind that this isn't a final review of Vista--think of it instead as a scouting report, as this was written before we had the absolute latest version in hand. Look for the definitive word soon--when we actually have all the finished hardware drivers to get the job done.

15 Reasons to Switch

Here is an interesting article that I have found which shows off 15 Reasons to Switch to Windows Vista. Here is some of the article. To anyone who has been sitting on the fence over whether to upgrade to Microsoft's new operating system, I'll say it loud and clear: It's time to make the jump. There are plenty of reasons to leave Windows XP and install Windows Vista, and below are my top 15 favorites.

1. It's the Interface, Stupid
Perhaps the best thing about Windows Vista is the most obvious: its new interface. With transparent animated windows that swoosh into place, subtle and elegant colors, a new Start menu, and plenty of other changes, this is the most beautiful version of Windows you've seen. If you've ever had Mac envy, this is the Windows you want--it's the most Mac-like interface yet.

Sales Better Than Expected

First month over and done with and the sales were better than the analysts expected. That's only for business customers too remember, hence why the sales were slightly behind XP's first month. Should be interesting once the public can get there hands on Vista from the 30th this month! This is exciting, what with all the negativity over uptake in the press - some people were really sceptical about how quickly it would be adopted but this seems to prove them wrong.
